Council of Europe holds seminar for sports journalists
9 September, Vadul-lui-Voda - Sports reporting and the coverage of major sports events was the focus of a one-day seminar organised by the Council of Europe Programme on Confidence Building Measures Across the River Nistru/Dniestr.
The aim of this seminar is to establish and develop partnerships between journalists and media agencies, focusing in particular on reporting about sport events, organised on both banks of the river.
The event, attended by 20 journalists, looked at what makes a good sports story and how to tell it informatively and entertainingly with no political connotations.
The Council of Europe experts, Dominique Thierry and Laurent Rouy, have encouraged sport journalists and reporters from both sides to discuss possible tools of improving the quality of sports reporting, by involving them in practical exercises.
The seminar is a part of the second phase of the project "A Bridge Across", which is one of numerous confidence building measures the Council of Europe has been implementing for media on both banks since June 2010.
The implementation of this seminar was possible thank to financial support offered by the Joint Programme between the Council of Europe and the European Union Promoting freedom, professionalism and pluralism of the media in the South Caucasus and Moldova.
