Monitoring visit by PACE co-rapporteurs to Moldova
Strasbourg, 29.11.2011 – Lise Christoffersen (Norway, SOC) and Piotr Wach (Poland, EPP/CD), co-rapporteurs of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) on the honouring of Moldova’s obligations and commitments, started a fact-finding visit to Chisinau yesterday afternoon until 1 December. They will be especially interested in the current political situation, the reform of justice, the measures taken to combat corruption and organised crime, and the implementation of Assembly Resolutions 1572 (2007), 1666 (2009) and 1692 (2009).
During this visit, the co-rapporteurs are due to meet the acting President of the Republic and Speaker of Parliament, the Prime Minister, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs and European Integration, the Minister of Justice as well as the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs. Talks are also foreseen with representatives of the political parties which hold seats in Parliament, and with representatives of the judicial authorities, NGOs and the media.
The co-rapporteurs will give a press conference on Thursday 1 December at 1 pm in the Ministry of Agriculture building (Conference Hall, I floor).
