Training seminars on human rights for civil servants from local public authorities
Chisinau, 29 November 2011 - The Joint Programme between the Council of Europe and the European Union “Democracy Support Programme in Moldova” in co-operation with the Centre for Human Rights of Moldova (Moldovan Ombudsman Institution) is organising a series of training seminars for civil servants from local public authorities.
Following the publication of the “Manual on human rights for civil servants”, a series of training seminars on human rights for civil servants from local public authorities in 5 cities from different regions of the country is being organised. The first seminars have been held in Balti and Edinet. The trainers, co-authors of the manual have delivered presentations on several chapters of this publication, regarded by them as most important for representatives of the local public authorities. The participants have also discussed different aspects of their activity, pointing out the most problematic ones, such as shortages in the social assistance field, rights of people with disabilities, petitioning system, etc. Other training seminars will be organised in Cahul, Comrat and Chisinau in late November and first half of December. Copies of the publication shall be disseminated among civil servants and other beneficiaries during the trainings and a number of them will be donated to Moldovan Ombudsman Institution.
