Training on social care using the European care certificate and a human rights based approach to disability
On 22-24 September 2014 the Confidence-Building Measures (CBMs) programme organised for social workers a training on social care using the European Care Certificate and a Human Rights based approach to disability.
The methodology of the training was based on the Human Rights approach to disability and followed the principles of the European set of the Basic Social Care Learning Outcomes (BESCLO), the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and the Council of Europe Disability Action Plan. The training sessions covered all of the eight areas of the BESCLO and the knowledge required for carers in their daily work and support provided for the individuals with disabilities.
All participants were offered the opportunity to take the European Care Certificate exam to test the basic knowledge acquired in each BESCLO area and the best ways of applying this basic knowledge in situations they are likely to encounter in performing their social care work. Participants that passed the exam were awarded certificates. |
