The delegation included representatives of penitentiary institutions, TB coordinators from both sides of the river Nistru/Dniester, as well as NGOs working in this field.
The four-day study visit to Azerbaijan included key aspects of TB control in the prison setting, in particular TB case detection and diagnosis, TB infection control, TB/HIV co-infection, follow-up treatment of TB/HIV patients after release, etc. The study visit consisted of training sessions, group discussions, and visits to penitentiary institutions where the participants had the possibility to experience how TB and TB/HIV co-infection are treated and prevented in prisons. |
